About Lyons Housing Authority

The Lyons Housing Authority was formed by the City of Lyons in August 1968 for the purpose of providing safe, sanitary, decent, and affordable housing for the community.

The LHA is accepting applications for residence in the Park Place Apartments, which is located one block east of the Lyons Foodliner grocery store and directly south of Workman Park. Rental assistance is available. Applicants are drawn from a waiting list on a date and time basis. Apartments are rented according to family composition with one and two bedroom units available. The federal government establishes income limits on an annual basis and applicants must meet the Low-to-Moderate income requirements. Rent is then based on income with a minimum and maximum rent level, which is determined by the apartment size.
References are required, and a criminal background and credit check will be done on every applicant. Park Place offers a number of amenities including: Paid utilities, an on-site laundry facility, smoke-free building, Friendship Meals, Senior Center, postal boxes, and ample parking. Call or stop by the office to apply.

Located on East Second Street and North Purdy Avenue, Kingswood Housing is operated similar to the Park Place Apartments except that Kingswood consists of eight duplexes with four one-bedroom, eight two-bedroom and four three-bedroom apartments. Apartment size is determined by the family composition. Laundry hookups are provided in each apartment and there is a playground facility located just behind the apartment for children. Kingswood residents do not receive free utilities but are provided with a utility allowance.
